Brick Breaker is the arcade formula that never wore out: a paddle at the bottom, a ball in flight, and a wall of bricks that exists to be demolished. Keep the ball alive, break everything, and see how far three lives carry you.

Arcadia’s Brick Breaker is an original implementation in the classic style: six hand-built brick formations, reinforced bricks that take two hits, and capsules that widen your paddle when you catch them. The physics run at a fixed 120 Hz under the hood, so the bounce is honest and identical on every machine — what you aim is what you get.

Play it with a mouse, your finger or the arrow keys. There is no account and no download; your best score is saved on your own device, waiting to be beaten on your next run.

How to Play

  1. Move the paddle with your mouse, finger or the arrow keys.
  2. Launch the ball with a tap, a click or the space bar.
  3. Aim with the paddle: the ball bounces straighter from the centre and sharper from the edges.
  4. Break every brick — reinforced ones take two hits, and some drop a capsule that widens your paddle.
  5. Advance through all six formations; your remaining lives carry over between them.
  6. Win by clearing formation six, or chase a new best score before your last ball drops.

Brick Breaker Rules

The run. A run spans six brick formations played in order, with three lives for the whole journey. Lives are only lost, never refilled — a clean early game is what buys you the later formations.

Serving. Each life starts with the ball resting on the paddle. Position yourself, then launch with a tap or the space bar. After losing a ball, the next one serves the same way.

The bounce. Walls and bricks reflect the ball squarely, but the paddle does not: where the ball lands decides its exit angle. Centre hits bounce steep, edge hits bounce shallow and fast. That is the whole aiming system, and mastering it is the game.

Bricks. Standard bricks break in one hit. Reinforced bricks take two — the first hit visibly cracks them — and score more points. A formation is cleared when its last brick breaks.

Capsules. Some bricks release a capsule that falls toward the floor. Catch it with the paddle and your paddle widens for a while; miss it and nothing happens. The wide paddle expires on its own — the countdown is yours to feel.

Losing a ball. A ball that passes the paddle is gone, and one life with it. Lose your last ball and the run ends where it ends, score on the board.

Winning and scoring. Clear all six formations and the run is won. Points come from every broken brick, with reinforced bricks worth more; your best score is stored in your browser and survives a reload.

Brick Breaker Strategy

  • Aim, don’t rescue. Catching the ball is the minimum; catching it on the right part of the paddle is the game. Decide where you want the ball before it arrives.
  • Go for the gaps. A ball that slips behind a formation bounces between bricks and ceiling, clearing rows on its own while you rest. Opening a side channel early is usually worth a few risky angles.
  • Respect the edges. The sharp bounce off the paddle’s edge is your tool for reaching awkward corners — and your fastest way to lose a ball. Use it deliberately, not accidentally.
  • Time your capsules. A wide paddle is worth most at the start of a formation, when there are many bricks left to profit from the extra safety. Late in a formation, don’t risk a ball to catch one.
  • Slow the endgame. The last bricks of a formation are the most dangerous — long empty flights and shallow angles invite mistakes. Take centre bounces, keep control, and place the finish.
  • Bank lives early. The first formations are the cheapest place to play carefully. Arriving at formation four with all three lives beats arriving fast with one.

Tips

Strong play usually comes from tempo, risk control, and converting small advantages.

  • Play lines that keep your options open.
  • Protect key assets and avoid overextending.
  • Force your opponent into predictable responses.

FAQ

How do I aim the ball in Brick Breaker?

With the paddle: the ball leaves straighter from the centre and sharper from the edges. Where you let the ball land on the paddle is where you point the next flight.

Why did one brick take two hits?

That was a reinforced brick. The first hit cracks it, the second breaks it, and it scores more than a standard brick.

What do the falling capsules do?

A caught capsule widens your paddle for a while, then expires on its own. Missing a capsule has no penalty — only catching it matters.

Do my lives reset between formations?

No. Three lives cover the whole six-formation run, and whatever you have left carries into the next formation. There are no extra lives.

How do I win a run?

Clear every brick in all six formations before your last ball drops. The run ends in victory on the final brick — or wherever your third ball went past the paddle.

Does Brick Breaker work on a phone?

Yes. The paddle follows your finger and a tap launches the ball; the table scales to the screen without sideways scrolling.

Is my best score saved?

Yes, in your own browser on your own device. It survives reloads; clearing your browser data resets it.

Is Brick Breaker on Arcadia really free?

Yes. It plays free in your browser with no download, no account and no stake of any kind.
