Learn how gravity works in the caves of Emberdeep, why the rocks glow before they fall, and how to plan a route that collects every crystal.
Reviewed & updated
Cave-digging games were a home-computer staple of the eighties: tunnel through dirt, collect gems, and respect the boulders, because anything you dig out from under will fall. The genre taught a generation that greed and gravity are a dangerous pair.
Emberdeep is Arcadia’s original cave crawler in that tradition — six hand-built caves, crystals, beacons and a lift home — but turn-based: nothing moves until you do, and an unsupported rock glows for one warning turn before it falls. With up to 500 turns of undo, it is a puzzle you can think about, not a reflex test.
The goal of every cave is the same: collect enough crystals, light both beacons, and reach the lift before anything lands on you.
Emberdeep rewards routes, not reactions. The best players read a cave before touching it.
The classic games of this genre run in real time, with enemies and timers driving the panic. Emberdeep deliberately trades that for turn-based play and undo: the same gravity puzzles, without the deaths you could not have seen coming.
Play Emberdeep free on Arcadia: six turn-based caves, glowing warning rocks, unlimited-depth undo and per-cave best move counts.
A rock with nothing under it glows for one warning turn and falls on the next. If you were beneath it on that turn, the cave ends — undo brings you back.
No. Every step or wait advances the cave exactly one turn, so nothing ever happens while you are thinking.
Both beacons in a cave must be lit, by walking into them, before the lift unlocks — crystals alone are not enough.
Yes. Undo restores up to 500 previous turns, including the one that got you crushed, and using it is never penalised.
No. All six caves are open for practice from the start; completing one marks it cleared and saves your best move count.
