How do I play Callbreak online on Arcadia?

Choose an AI level, inspect your 13 cards and bid when your turn arrives. Tap a highlighted card to play. You face three individual opponents across five rounds, with a score breakdown after every hand.

Are spades always trump in Callbreak?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every spade beats every non spade. Among spades, ace is highest and 2 is lowest. Without a spade in the trick, the highest card of the led suit wins.

Question 3

Must I play a higher card if I can follow suit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, unless a spade has already trumped a trick led in another suit. Otherwise, if you can beat the highest card in the led suit, you must. You are not required to use your very highest card.

Question 4

Must I trump when I cannot follow suit?

Accepted Answer

Only when you have a spade that can beat all spades already in the trick. If you do, you must play a qualifying spade. If all your spades are lower, or you have none, any card is legal.

Question 5

How are extra tricks scored?

Accepted Answer

If you meet your bid, each extra trick adds 0.1 to the bid's points. A bid of 4 with 6 tricks scores 4.2. Missing the same bid scores 4.0, regardless of how close you came.

Can I pass or bid zero?

Accepted Answer

No. Every player bids once, from 1 to 13. There is no pass, zero bid, second bidding round or redeal in Arcadia's version.

Question 7

Is Callbreak the same as Call Bridge or Lakdi?

Call Bridge, Lakdi and Lakadi are names associated with related regional card games. Rules differ between groups. Check Arcadia's rules above, particularly compulsory higher plays, overtrumping and the 0.1 scoring system, before starting.

How does a match end, and what happens in a tie?

After exactly five rounds, the player with the highest total wins. Two or more players tied for the highest total share the win. Negative totals are possible, and there is no extra tie break round.
