HOW TO PLAY
Dara — Traditional Nigerian Strategy Game

1 DROP PHASE

  • The board is a 5-column by 6-row grid (30 squares total)
  • Players alternate placing one piece per turn
  • Each player places 12 pieces (24 total on the board)
  • You may NOT place a piece that would create 3-in-a-row of your own color

2 MOVE PHASE

  • Move one of your pieces to an adjacent empty square (up, down, left, or right — no diagonals)
  • Goal: form exactly 3 of your pieces in a row (horizontal or vertical)
  • When you form 3-in-a-row, choose one opponent piece to capture and remove
  • A line of 4 or more does NOT count — only exactly 3
  • You cannot capture a piece that is part of a 3-in-a-row, unless all opponent pieces are in 3-in-a-rows

WINNING

  • Reduce your opponent to fewer than 3 pieces
  • Or leave your opponent with no legal moves
